In Zambia disease takes its toll on the poor communities. Clinics are understaffed and inadequately equipped. Counterfeit medication circulates widely and further raises the mortality rate. Those who suffer most are the little ones.
In this area, the mortality among small children is particularly high. A big culprit is the poor network of clinics. One of the Touching Africa Zambia goals is to put up a private clinic, serving the many small villages in the remote areas with the basics in terms of health care. We also hope to launch a mobile clinic that will travel to remote villages on a regular basis. We are currently planning the construction.
